The main star of this Saturday night (21), on the UFC 255 card, Deiveson Figueiredo fulfilled the mission of defending his flyweight belt (57 kg) for the first time. Facing challenger Alex Pérez, number four in the ranking, the Brazilian needed less than two minutes to finish with a guillotine and begin his legacy as absolute champion in the event.
Off guard at first, Deiveson opted for blunt punches, especially at the waist, to undermine his opponent. After an attempt to put a heel brace, the Brazilian quickly approached the guard and strangled him.
Keeping his belt in Las Vegas (USA), Deiveson, who scored his third win of the 2020 season, expanded his lineup to 20 wins and one loss. Interestingly, the only executioner in his career, Jussier ‘Formiga’, was recently fired from the event.
Judging by the organization’s ranking, the name of Mexican Brandon Morano appears as a favorite, number one on the list who beat Bradon Royval on the same program. However, the champion himself said, even before the fight, that he has two former champions in his sights: Cody Garbrandt and Henry Cejudo.
