The Palmeiras managers managed to reaffirm their position in the dispute with Flamengo for the realization of the game this Sunday, at 4 pm (Brasilia time), in Allianz Parque, for the 12th day of the Brazilian Championship.

After the Rio club sought out CBF and STJD trying to postpone the showdown, the game was confirmed despite the club’s embezzlement due to Covid-19. But the rojinegros are still trying one last maneuver in the Superior Court of Sports Justice after the confirmation of another case, on Friday night.

The first public demonstration of Palmeiras took place on Tuesday, when Flamengo entered the Guayaquil field for the Libertadores, against Barcelona. In a post by Palmeiras on social media, President Maurício Galiotte defended the protocol and regulation of the Brasileirão.

Verdão’s position gained strength last Thursday, when the athletes positioned themselves through a note that struck the São Paulo Athletes Union, which could go to the court to try to avoid the match, and reaffirm the desire to enter the field. .

Even at dawn on Thursday, when the Palmeirense delegation returned to Brazil after the draw with the Guaraní, in Paraguay, some players were already debating the request of the Flamengo board of directors.

The decision was made official through a note released on Thursday afternoon, which increased support for the Palmeirense leaders.

Verdão’s stance drew criticism from the Rio club. Vice President Rodrigo Dunshee de Abranches said that the Palmeirenses were against the postponement, imagining a possible technical gain due to the number of absences.

However, behind the scenes at Palmeiras, there are reports of agreement from the managers of other clubs due to the decision to keep the game. The alviverdes were based on the protocol defined at the beginning of Brasileirão so that there were no changes, even if it was a case of health.

The CBF was consulted by the STJD about the flamenco request and it manifested itself on Thursday night endorsing the dispute. On Friday, the Superior Court of Sports Justice consulted infectologists on the safety protocol established by CBF, which reinforced the first decision.

The match between Palmeiras and Flamengo will be at 4 pm on Sunday, at Allianz Parque. Vanderlei Luxembourg’s team must have maximum strength to face the Rio team, which has 16 absences considering only the athletes infected by Covid-19.
