President Jair Bolsonaro signed Decree No. 10,342 that includes civil construction and other activities on the list of public services and essential activities during the new coronavirus pandemic. The operation of these sectors, indicates the decree, must obey the determinations of the Ministry of Health.
In addition to civil construction, the decree included activities for the production, transportation, and distribution of natural gas; the chemical and petrochemical industries of raw materials or health, hygiene, food and beverage products; and industrial activities. The decree responds to Bolsonaro’s desire to revive economic activity.
According to Economy Minister Paulo Guedes, despite government aid and credit programs to protect people’s incomes for three months, the industry may not be able to keep up with this inactivity and low demand and the economy it will collapse sooner. Although there is protection, people have money in hand, in 30 days they may start to run out of shelves and disorganize Brazilian production and enter a system, not only of economic collapse, of social disorganization, “he said.
President Jair Bolsonaro went to the Federal Supreme Court (STF) today to ask the Judiciary for help in reopening commercial activities amid restrictions imposed due to the social isolation caused by the pandemic.
Health authorities guide the population and governments to adopt isolation and social distance measures as a way to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus. Since there is still no scientifically proven vaccine or remedies against covid-19, the guide aims to curb the transmission of the virus to prevent health systems from overloading and can help all people who get sick.
Bolsonaro preaches the resumption of economic activity and the representatives of the industrial sector support the president and affirm that they face a deep demand crisis caused by the closure of trade.
“If I could summarize and make a characterization, the industry is in the UCI and, to get out, it needs flexibility so that the wheel turns again,” said the executive president of the Aço Brasil Institute and industry coordinator of the coalition, Marco Polo. . by Mello Lopes, after the meeting with Toffoli.
