Federal deputy Daniel Silveira (PSL-RJ) explained on social networks how he used an article of the law that requires the use of masks in Rio de Janeiro in order not to use the protection that he called “ideological muzzle.”
According to the Bolsonarista deputy, he was “supported by law 14.019 / 20 art 3 ° §7 °” when he refused to wear the mask at the airport. However, the item mentioned by the deputy refers to PWD (people with disabilities), in particular autistic people.
“The obligation provided for in the chapter of this article will be exempted in the case of people with autism spectrum disorder, intellectual disability, sensory disability or any other disability that prevents them from making proper use of a facial protection mask, according to a medical statement which can be obtained digitally, as well as in the case of children under 3 (three) years of age, ”says the law.
Silveira did not say whether she provided the requested medical statement. In response to a Twitter user, he said that he used the article not because he had a disability, but because he felt “a headache from increased CO2 in the blood.”
There is no scientific evidence that the use of masks, essential to prevent the increase in cases of covid-19, increases the level of carbon dioxide in the blood.
In September, the deputy had already stated, without scientific data, that “the masks are making people sick.”
