The DAE (Department of Water and Sanitation) of Americana reported, in a note, that it anticipates the return of raw water pumping in the city by the end of the afternoon of this Wednesday (7).

The estimate is that, after the return of pumping, the supply will stabilize in 48 hours.

The Piracicaba river water catchment has been interrupted since 6:00 am on Tuesday (6) to carry out the interconnection service for a new catchment. As a result, a general supply shortage was already anticipated in the city.

However, on Tuesday night, the interconnection service had problems. According to the DAE, pumping resumed around 9:30 pm, but had to stop after a part of the interconnection of the new collection was broken.

It was necessary to empty the pipe (pipe) of raw water, a process that lasted up to 2 hours, and then remove the water that flooded the control box for the new intake.

This process was completed at 2 am to remove all the water from the box, in addition to removing approximately 54 screws to install a blind flange, a “plug,” to contain the leak.

In a note released around 11 am (see full note below), the DAE reported that “services are being carried out uninterruptedly so that the works are completed as soon as possible.”

Last week, the DAE had announced the operation that would leave Americana without water on Tuesday. The forecast was that the service would last 12 hours and that, after the resumption of pumping, the supply would return to normal in 48 hours.

The offer in the city, which has a structure considered problematic and obsolete, has been the subject of complaints in recent days. Residents of different neighborhoods report having had their taps dry for weeks.

The DAE says that the situation is related to the high consumption in the heat and with the works that the municipality has promoted to improve the supply.

Through the DAE website, it is possible to monitor the level of the reservoirs divided between regions of the city, in the service called telemetry.

What does the DEA say?

The Department of Water and Sewerage (DAE) of Americana has been working, since last Tuesday (10/6), to execute the interconnection of the new raw water catchment in the Piracicaba River.

The services are being carried out uninterruptedly so that the works are completed as soon as possible, after problems presented in a valve, whose installation is the responsibility of a company, when pumping had already been resumed, at 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

According to information from the municipality, pumping resumed at 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday and, at 10:40 p.m., a valve, which is part of the interconnection part of the new and old collection unit, presented problems and was broke down flooding the entire control box.

At 11 o’clock at night the emptying of the raw water pipe began, which lasted until 2 o’clock in the morning, then all the water was removed from the box and some 54 screws were removed for the installation of a blind flange, a “Plug”, to contain the leak. The ARTEC company, responsible for the work, is completing the removal of the screws.

The work continues this Wednesday morning (7/10) and the return of raw water pumping is scheduled for the afternoon.
