Rio de Janeiro Mayor Marcelo Crivella (Republicans) wants the public to return to the Maracana games from October 4 to try to reduce the crowds on the beaches and without a mask.

The game suggested to mark the return of the public to the stadiums is Flamengo and Athletico Paranaense, on October 4, for the Brazilian Championship.

CBF, organizer of the competition, has yet to authorize the return of the public to the stadiums. Wanted, he did not immediately comment.

The city government even scheduled the return of citizens to the stadiums in July, but backed off from the terrible repercussions of the measure at a time when there was still a very high number of cases and deaths caused by the coronavirus.

The planning of the city council foresees a public limitation to a third of the stadium and the strategy generates controversy again. According to Crivella, the idea is that the authorization for the presence of the public in the stadiums can reduce the crowding on the city’s beaches on sunny days.

“We have two weeks for the Federation, the stadium administrators and the Sanitary Vigilance to adapt,” said Crivella, the journalist.

“We will appeal to CBF to help us make Maracana an alternative to the beach, perhaps one of the biggest problems in Rio, the crowds of people without masks. If the game can be at 11 am it will be great, why? perhaps there are less than 20 thousand people on the beaches of Rio de Janeiro, “he added.

The return of the fans would be accompanied by various obligations such as the use of a mask, availability of alcohol gel, sale of tickets online, among other measures.
