The government of SP extends the quarantine until February 7
The government of São Paulo published today in the Official Gazette the decree that extends the quarantine throughout the state until February 7. The measure aims to contain the spread of covid-19 and ensure the proper functioning of health services.
The decree only renews a determination made by the state administration at the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic and that has been extended by Governor João Doria (PSDB), even with the flexibilities established by the São Paulo Plan.
The quarantine is extended for the fifteenth time in the State. In the previous decree the measure was extended until December 16.
Compared to the month of November, the state of São Paulo registered 57% more deaths from coronavirus in December. Until this Wednesday (30), 4,382 deaths were confirmed in December, against 2,784 in November.
Vehicles gather to obtain information
In response to the decision of the government of Jair Bolsonaro to restrict access to data on the covid-19 pandemic, media Twitter, El Estado de S. Paulo, Folha de S.Paulo, O Globo, G1 and Extra formed a consortium to work collaboratively to seek the necessary information directly from the state health departments of the 27 units of the Federation.
The federal government, through the Ministry of Health, should be the natural source of these figures, but the attitudes of the authorities and the president himself during the pandemic cast doubt on the availability of the data and its veracity.
