For the second day in a row, Brazil registered more than a thousand deaths caused by covid-19 in a 24-hour interval. From yesterday to today, 1,224 new deaths were confirmed as a result of the disease in the country, which had not registered such a high number since August 20 (1,234). The information was compiled by the consortium of press vehicles of which Twitter It is part of.

According to data from the consortium, this Tuesday (29) 1,075 new deaths caused by covid-19 were registered in 24 hours. In all, 193,940 people have died from the disease since the start of the pandemic.

It is worth mentioning, however, that records of deaths on weekends and holidays tend to be repressed due to the reduction of personnel in the health departments. As a result, data is entered on subsequent days, especially Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

There were 55,853 positive covid-19 diagnoses across the country from yesterday to today. The total number of contaminants reached 7,619,970 since the beginning of the pandemic. There were an average of 668 deaths in the last seven days.

Health data

The Ministry of Health announced on Wednesday (30) that Brazil had confirmed 1,194 new deaths from the disease from yesterday to today. It’s the highest number since Sept. 1, when the agency recorded 1,215 new deaths.

On Tuesday (29), according to the Ministry, there were 1,111 new deaths from covid-19 in a 24-hour interval. Since the start of the pandemic, 193,875 people have died in the country from the disease.

From yesterday to today, 55,649 positive tests for the new coronavirus have been confirmed. The number of infected people has risen to 7,619,200 since the start of the pandemic.

According to the folder, 6,707,781 people recovered from the disease, with another 717,544 being followed.

Pfizer Considers Emergency Vaccine Use Again

The American pharmaceutical company Pfizer said today, after a new meeting with the National Sanitary Surveillance Agency (Anvisa), that it again considered the request for the emergency use of its vaccine against covid-19 in Brazil. The company had said last Monday (28) that it would send the immunizer only for the so-called continuous presentation.

Pfizer’s argument earlier this week was that it had “had difficulties” in the Presentation Guide for Emergency Use, prepared by the Brazilian agency itself.

However, today, with new clarifications from Anvisa, the laboratory declared that there is the possibility that the agency “modulate” specific points in the presentation guide, allowing greater agility in the presentation of this type of process.

“A new technical meeting will be held and, based on this additional discussion and the progress of the negotiations with the Brazilian government, Pfizer will evaluate the possibility of requesting an emergency use,” the company said in a statement.

Vehicles gather for information

In response to the decision of the government of Jair Bolsonaro to restrict access to data on the covid-19 pandemic, media Twitter, El Estado de S. Paulo, Folha de S.Paulo, O Globo, G1 and Extra formed a consortium to work collaboratively to seek the necessary information directly from the state health departments of the 27 units of the Federation.

The federal government, through the Ministry of Health, should be the natural source of these figures, but the attitudes of the authorities and the president himself during the pandemic cast doubt on the availability of the data and its veracity.
