Brazil has accumulated 9,146 deaths and 135,106 confirmed cases of covid-19, since the first official record of the disease in February. The case fatality rate, which is the percentage of deaths among sick people, remained at 6.8%.
With the information published by the Ministry of Health, this Thursday (7), the country began to occupy the ninth place in the ranking of nations with the highest number of occurrences in the world.
In the last 24 hours, the states and the Federal District reported 610 new deaths due to the infection caused by the new coronavirus, 227 of which occurred in the last three days and the others were included after updating the final classification of the investigation. State health departments also reported 9,888 infected between yesterday and today.
The federal government estimates that 55,350 people are recovering, while another 70,610 are being monitored. La Pasta is still investigating 1,782 alleged deaths.
With 44.9% of all records in the country, the Southeast region is the most affected by the pandemic (60,692 confirmations). The state of São Paulo leads the list, with 39,928 infected and 3,206 deaths. Next up is Rio de Janeiro, which has 14,156 incidents and 1,394 fatalities.
In states that have enacted the blockade this week, with the expansion of restrictions on the movement of people and non-essential services, rates have also increased. Pará has 5,524 cases and 410 deaths, while Maranhão has 5,389 patients and 305 people who did not resist.
