Covid-19: Campinas announces vehicle rotation starting Monday | Campinas and Region

The mayor of Campinas (SP), Jonas Donizette, announced on Wednesday (13) the implementation of the vehicle rotation system starting on Monday (18) and for an indefinite period. The model will be similar to the one used by São Paulo before the coronavirus pandemic, with the restriction of two final plates per day. The action tries to increase the levels of social isolation in the city.

Transportation secretary Carlos José Barreiro explained that the measure will be valid between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m., throughout the city. Emdec teams will carry out inspections, with agents and electronic radar monitoring.

“We need to maintain a 55% rate, to have a flattening of the curve,” Jonas said. Last Tuesday (12), the Intelligent State Monitoring System (SIMI) indicated that the rate of social isolation in the city remains at 45%.

The driver who is caught driving with prohibited signs on the given day will be fined R $ 130.16 and you will receive four points at the CNH (National Driver’s License). Vehicles outside of Campinas will also be inspected and evaluated.

According to the city, “essential services” professionals will be exempt from rotation. The determinations and details on this will be in the decree, which will be published on Friday.

“The situation is not light, it is serious. It is not that the cases can, but that they will increase. Stay at home, who can,” added Jonas.
