The mayor of São Paulo and candidate for re-election Bruno Covas (PSDB) voted this Sunday morning (29) and said that he will serve the four-year term if he is reelected.

“I want to be re-elected to deliver the post on January 1, 2025,” Covas said at a press conference after the vote. Covas, who was a deputy for João Doria (PSDB), assumed control of the city of São Paulo after the former mayor resigned to run for state government. At the time, Doria was severely criticized, as he had promised to fulfill the entire mandate.

In addition, the issue was used critically in political announcements by his opponent, Guilherme Boulos (PSDB), who said that if Covas is elected, his deputy, Ricardo Nunes (MDB) will take office.

Covas mentioned that the city is going through a difficult time in the face of the coronavirus pandemic and said that his experience as a public manager can help the population.

“It is a joy to be able to arrive here at this moment, having carried out this campaign clean and determined, speaking of the city of São Paulo as they deserve and how the voters want it here in the city. It is a difficult moment that the city is going through, the The pandemic brought us various sacrifices that the entire population is making, a difficult moment in which I make my resume and my willpower available to work even harder to work for the city of São Paulo ”, he declared.

Previously, Bruno Covas followed the vote of his political allies. The toucan left his house around 8:20 am to have breakfast at Marta Suplicy’s house. Then followed Marta’s vote in an electoral zone in Jardins. Upon leaving the site, Marta said that she is confident in the mayor’s victory.

Subsequently, Covas met with former president Fernando Henrique Cardoso at Colégio Sion, in Higienópolis, in downtown São Paulo. “Everybody knows that I’m on Bruno’s side, he has competition, and that’s why I’m on his side,” said FHC.

Subsequently, Covas went to the house of Governor João Doria (PSDB) of Jardins and accompanied him to Saint Paul’s School, in the same neighborhood. Asked about the importance of the possible re-election of Bruno Covas, Doria said that this is not a personal project, but a collective one. “The re-election of Bruno Covas in the capital of São Paulo is a reconfirmation of the strength, efficiency and approval of the PSDB leadership and Bruno Covas leadership”.
