Child pornography. This is the conclusion of the Civil Police of Santa Catarina on the motive and purpose of the kidnapping, committed by a couple of gauchos, a four-year-old girl. She was kidnapped on the night of the 18th of this month in the Pacheco neighborhood, in Palhoça. The mother was beaten inside her own home while trying to prevent her daughter from being taken away. The revelation about what was behind the crime occurred this Wednesday morning during a press conference held at the Greater Florianópolis Police Directorate. The investigation of the case has been completed.
The gaucho couple, who lived for some years in Santa Catarina, were arrested on the 20th during the release of the boy from captivity, located in a two-story house in the Cachoeira do Bom Jesus neighborhood, north of the island of Florianópolis. The man and the woman are in preventive detention and remain in the prison system.
In charge of the investigation, the head of the Police Department for the Protection of Children, Adolescents, Women and the Elderly of Palhoça, delegate Fábio Pereira, highlighted that the couple committed sexual abuse of minors. “This couple reached out to families. They looked for social networks that provide social assistance to families in need with the intention of reaching out to them, providing baskets of basic food, attractions and gifts for children. They gained the trust of the families and the parents let the children stay for more than a month at the couple’s home, ”he explained.
“One of these children was the victim of sexual abuse with the production and storage of pornographic images,” he added. “The purpose would be to abuse children,” he emphasized. The girl was not sexually abused, and no pornographic photos were taken of her. The police action placed the captivity in two days of investigation. “They did not have time,” summarized the head of the Police Department for the Protection of Children, Adolescents, Women and the Elderly of Palhoça.
He clarified that the mother was brutally beaten because she did not want to be taken away. “It would have been the second time. The mother had previously approached the couple who wanted to take the child to buy sweets, ”he reported. Chief Fábio Pereira also said that the total number of victims cannot be estimated during the investigation, but he assured that “there were several.”
The director of the Greater Florianópolis Police, delegate Eliane Chaves, also thanked the General Institute of Forensics, the Public Ministry and the Judiciary for their support during the investigative work. “It is a serious case,” he said. “Many children were saved and other crimes were prevented,” he said.
The couple was charged with qualified kidnapping, serious personal injury, storage of child pornography, rape of vulnerable persons and production of child pornography, as well as environmental crime because a dog with signs of abuse was found in the couple’s home. In the residence there was a white Volkswagen Gol, identical to the one seen in the kidnapping of the child in Palhoça.
