Nurse Katy Davis and her sister Emma died just three days apart in the same hospital.

Identical twin sisters died three days apart from covid-19 in the UK.

Child nurse Katy Davis and former nurse Emma Davis were admitted to Southampton General Hospital. Katy died last Tuesday (04/21) and Emma on Friday (04/24). They were 37 years old.

“They always said they came into the world together and that they would also go together,” said her sister, Zoe Davis.

Zoe says the two lived together and had other health problems.

“There are no words to describe how special they were. All they ever wanted to do was help other people. Since they were young, they pretended to be doctors and nurses taking care of their wrists,” said Zoe.

“They gave everything to all the patients they cared for. They were exceptional. It doesn’t seem like any of this is real.”

‘Nursing was more than a job for Katy’

Katy, who worked at Southampton Children’s Hospital, tested positive for covid-19 as soon as she arrived at the hospital.

“Her colleagues described her as a nurse that other people aspired to be and for whom nursing was more than a job,” said Paula Head, executive director of the University of Southampton Hospital, which runs the facility where Katy responded.

“On behalf of all present, including our patients and the communities we serve, I would like to offer our sincere condolences to your family.”

The Royal College of Nursing said in a statement that Katy was “a dedicated and selfless nurse, who shared her skills and knowledge with everyone to ensure excellent patient care.”

‘Emma was a valuable member of the team’

Emma worked in the same hospital as her sister, in the colorectal surgery unit, for nine years, until 2013.

In a message to the team, Nursing Director Gail Byrne said: “She had the same health problem as Katy and was ill prior to her admission, when she tested positive for covid-19. Needless to say, how devastating and tragic it was It is this. It is for the family and all who knew them. “

Byrne says Emma was “an excellent nurse, calm and cheerful, and a good leader.” “She was loved by everyone and was a valuable member of the team during her time with us.”

Hospital workers gave Katy a minute of applause outside the main entrance on Thursday night, hours before Emma’s death.

A total of 50 British nurses have so far died in the coronavirus pandemic, according to a list compiled by the Nursing Times website.
