RIO – The first exclusive field hospital for patients in the THEIR affected by Covid-19. According to the hospital director, Dr. Werner Scheinpflug, the 30 patients waiting in line at the SUS will be housed in the unit today. There will be no emergency care.

– All patients admitted here will come from the regulatory queue of the state government, which is based on the severity criterion of each patient in two queues: one in nursing and the other in intensive care. Our intention is that we can already deliver the 200 beds in the next few weeks, Scheinpflug details, remembering that the unit will be delivered one week earlier than originally scheduled.

The Lagoa-Barra Hospital, built in 19 days, will have digital tomography, conventional radiology, ultrasound and echocardiogram devices, as well as a clinical pathology laboratory. The initiative, which will run for four months, will generate between 1,000 and 1,200 direct and indirect jobs, says Scheinpflug:

– Approximately half of the health professionals who will work in the hospital are from Rede D’Or, but we are also hiring professionals in the market, such as doctors, nurses, technicians and physical therapists. Along with hiring professionals and support, hygiene and safety, we have surpassed the generation of a thousand jobs.

Status numbers: Rio registers 40 deaths in 24 hours and the total reaches 570

The investment of R $ 45 million for the construction and operation of the unit comes from the private initiative, led by Rede D’Or, which injected R $ 25 million. Bradesco Seguros, Lojas Americanas, the Brazilian Petroleum Institute (IBP) and Banco Safra contributed R $ 5 million each. All energy consumed at the Campaign Hospital in Leblon will be donated by Light, that is, there will be no charge.

The Campaña Lagoa-Barra Hospital is located on Avenida Bartolomeu Miter 905, next to the 23rd Battalion of the Military Police, on land provided by the State Government.

New units

At the end of May, the State of Rio will have a total of 2,840 new beds distributed in 14 field hospitals. Ten of these units will be administered by the State (2,000 beds), while the other four will be administered by the municipalities and the federal government (840). Of this amount of almost 3,000 beds, 900 will be ICUs.

Besides the Lagoa-Barra, has been in operation since the last 10 Ocean hospital, in Niterói: the property rented by the Rio de Janeiro city prefecture has 40 beds in ICU.

On May 1, the city of Rio de Janeiro will open the Hospital de Campanha do Riocentro, in the west zone. The unit will have the capacity to receive 500 patients, 100 of them in the ICU. Then it will be the turn of the hospital Maracana, which has an estimated delivery date for the first days of May: administered by the state government, it will have 400 beds, 80 of which are in the ICU.

According to the State Department of Health, there are still another eight units to be delivered in May, which will open as patient demand increases: São Gonçalo: no Maua Club, with 200 beds (40 in the ICU); Duque de Caxias: next to the Adão Pereira Nunes Hospital, in Saracuruna, with 200 beds (40 in the ICU); Jacarepaguá: no Athletes park, with 200 beds (50 from the ICU); Nova Iguaçu: no Nova Iguaçu Aeroclub, with 200 beds (40 from the ICU), and also contemplating a modular hospital, with 300 beds (120 ICU); Campos dos Goytacazes: in the center, with 100 beds (20 in the ICU); Casimiro de Abreu: next to the Gélio Alves Faria Regional Hospital, with 100 beds (20 in the ICU); and Nova Friburgo: no Frederico Sichel Sports Gym, with 100 beds (20 in the ICU).

There are also two non-temporary hospital units that will be fully dedicated to the fight against Covid-19: the Hospital Center gives Fiocruz (federal government), which will open on May 15: 200 beds (180 in the ICU); and the São José Municipal Hospital, from the city of Duque de Caxias, which will have 100 beds (50 from the ICU) with an opening scheduled for next week.
