The 90 minutes

First time

Corinthians started the game well and soon brought danger to Retrô. After three minutes, Rodrigo Varanda took off on the left, played for Otero, who found Gustavo Mosquito inside the penalty area. The forward, however, stopped in calm defense of goalkeeper Jean.

At 15 minutes, Cazares stole the ball, scored with Jô and played for Varanda in the area, who dribbled to the goalkeeper, but saw the former Corinthians Del’Amore arrive to send for a corner. Then Timão opened the scoring.

Otero took a free kick close to the wide area, diagonally, and sent the right angle to the goalkeeper of Retrô. It was the Venezuelan’s first goal since arriving at Timão in the second half of last year.

After opening the scoring, Corinthians stopped playing football and saw the Pernambuco team take possession. Two clear chances were created, in addition to good plays that made life difficult for the white defense.

Even so, the tie did not come and the teams went to the locker room with the victory of Corinthians 1-0 on the scoreboard.

Second time

Despite the poor performance of his team, coach Vagner Mancini made no changes during the break and Corinthians returned to the second half with the same formation that started the game. And the scene has hardly changed.

Retrô was in danger twice, but failed to put the ball in the back of the net. In addition to the chances created, the opposing team dominated all the actions of the confrontation and had possession of the ball until the middle of the final stage.

Faced with the poor performance, the Alvinegro coach decided to change teams at 17 minutes. Defensive midfielder Ramiro and forward Léo Natel entered the positions of Rodrigo Varanda and Cazares, respectively.

Corinthians improved after the substitutions. Inspired, the Venezuelan Otero tried to send straight to the goal in two corner kicks and demanded good saves from goalkeeper Jean. Then Jemerson, under the post, sent over the rival goal.

Mancini replaced defender Lucas Piton in place of Otero in the 34th minute. Retro, in the final minutes, pressed again. Cássio made a good save after kicking Thiaguinho, but on the corner kick he couldn’t avoid the draw.

Mayco Félix got ahead of Jô’s mark and headed hard towards the back of the net at 39. Despite pressure from Corinthians, little happened after this play and the decision went to penalties.
