In their first knockout match of the season, Corinthians beat Salgueiro-PE 3-0 in Pernambuco and advanced to the second phase of the Copa do Brasil. The weight of the classification, however, goes beyond the sporting part.
Outside of the four lines, the triumph paid a considerable amount to the coffers of Timão. As defined by CBF, participation in the second stage of the national tournament already ensures R $ 2.5 million to the club – teams receive for their participation in each phase (see numbers below).

- Second phase: R $ 1,350,000.00
- Total: R $ 2,500,000.00
Vagner Mancini’s men now face Retrô-PE, who dispatched Brusque-SC in the first round of the Brazil Cup. The showdown has no date set yet, but will take place in a single game at Neo Química Arena.
In the event of qualification for the next phase, the Parque São Jorge club will secure another R $ 1.7 million. The tournament champion, it should be noted, can receive up to R $ 73 million.
