Corinthians announced on Monday the hiring of forward Jonathan Cafu, 29.
Free after terminating Bordeaux, France, which had his rights, and Al-Hazm, Saudi Arabia, where he had been on loan since January, the player arrives in Timão for a contract valid until December 2023.
In the negotiation, Timão took 70% of the player’s economic rights.

The training week will indicate if the forward can already go to the reserve bench against Atlético-MG, next Saturday, for Brasileirão. It still depends on the regularization in CBF.
Corinthians saw Cafu as a market opportunity. According to people from the club, the player already had the approval of former coach Tiago Nunes and his assignment, but the conditions for hiring him only became more adequate in this final stretch of the year.

Current coach Vagner Mancini also wanted to sign. Thus, Cafu arrives with the approval of the technical commission. With him, the club tries to meet the need for a fast attacker around the edges of the field, something that Timão had been looking for for months and couldn’t find.
Before Cafu, Corinthians hired 12 other athletes in the year: Luan, Sidcley (far away today), Cantillo, Davó, Yony González (then returned to Benfica), Éderson, Jô, Léo Natel, Otero, Cazares, Fábio Santos and Jemerson.

Featured from Ponte Preta in Series B 2014, Cafu arrived in São Paulo the following year, with 50% of the rights acquired for R $ 3 million. Six months later, it was sold to Ludogorets, from Bulgaria, for R $ 6.2 million.
It was three seasons in Bulgaria until the agreement with Bordeaux in the 2017/2018 season. The following year, he was assigned to the Red Star of Belgrade.
For Al-Hazm, where he arrived in January, he participated in 15 games and scored two goals. It is run by “Casa Soccer”, a company that takes care of the careers of Léo Natel and Marllon, and which mediated the arrival of players like Yony González and Víctor Cantillo.
