Fábio Santos is back at Corinthians. After terminating his contract with Atlético-MG, the left-back was announced as a new reinforcement for Timão on Monday afternoon. At 35, he signed until the end of 2021.
This is Fábio Santos’ second visit to Corinthians, where he won six titles: two Brazilians (2011 and some parties in 2015), Paulista (2013), Libertadores (2012), Recopa (2013) and Mundial.
Between 2011 and 2015, Fábio Santos played 214 games for Corinthians and scored 14 goals.
– I am very happy to return. I have Corinthians as my home. I won many titles here and had a wonderful time. I hope to help a lot in this return and to be available as soon as possible – said Fábio Santos.
In addition to the technical aspect, the arrival of the veteran aims to add prominence to the Corinthians dressing room at a time of turbulence. Alvinegra’s board also understands that it can help the maturation of Lucas Piton, Timão’s left-back holder at age 20.

Although he is already 35 years old, Fábio Santos is physically well evaluated. The coaching staff believes that he can be useful both on the wing and in the midfield.
The left-back is Timão’s eleventh reinforcement for the season. Before him, they were hired Luan, Sidcley, Cantillo, Davó, Yony González (later he returned to Benfica), Éderson, Jô, Léo Natel, Otero and Cazares.
Last Sunday, after the game against Flamengo, coach Vagner Mancini spoke about the player’s hiring. As the ge demonstrated over the weekend, Fábio Santos was a hint from the coach, who worked with him at Galo in 2019 and saw important leadership characteristics.
– I cannot talk about the return of Fábio because it was not officially announced, I can talk about my athlete at Atlético-MG, he is a leader, he has always been like this, up to here, where he was champion, but I am in no way looking at just that . I look at professional behavior, I think it has a lot to add to technical and tactical skills, transmitting to athletes what they have learned throughout their careers. It is a piece that is very significant in the market and will help us – Mancini stressed.
