The coordinator of Operation Lava Jato in Curitiba, the Prosecutor of the Republic Deltan Dallagnol will leave the working group, reported the Federal Public Ministry (MPF) this Tuesday (1st).

“After 6 years at the head of Lava Jato in Paraná, the Attorney General of the Republic Deltan Dallagnol leaves the working group to dedicate himself to health issues in his family,” explained the MPF in a note.

In a video posted online, Deltan said that her 1-year, 10-month-old daughter was showing signs of developmental regression and that she would therefore need to spend more time with her.

According to the MPF, the Attorney General in Paraná Alessandro José Fernandes de Oliveira must assume the functions of Deltan Dallganol.

Deltan Dallagnol signed several complaints of Operation Lava Jato, against businessmen and politicians. Among these complaints are those against former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT).

The structure of the Lava Jato working group in Paraná was created in April 2014, one month after the launch of the first operation. Since then, according to the document sent to the Attorney General’s Office (PGR), the work has been renewed seven times, the current deadline ends on September 10.

In July, there was friction between the working group and the Attorney General of the Republic, Augusto Aras, who said it was necessary to “correct the directions” so that “the lava jets do not last.”

Deltan Dallagnol has two disciplinary proceedings open against him in the National Council of the Public Ministry (CNMP) and they are suspended.

On Monday (31), the Attorney General’s Office (AGU) argued with the Federal Supreme Court (STF) that there is a risk of a statute of limitations for a disciplinary case opened in the CNMP against Deltan Dallagnol. the period prescribed by law expires during which there may be some sanction.

  • Celso de Mello suspends actions against Deltan Dallagnol in the Council of the Public Ministry

According to the Ombudsman’s Office, the process that discusses whether Deltan Dallagnol committed a disciplinary offense for allegedly trying to interfere in the dispute for the presidency of the Senate with charges against Senator Renan Calheiros (MDB-AL) should expire on September 10.

Minister Celso de Mello had suspended the process because he understood that there were problems with the process in the council and stressed that the deputies have freedom of expression.

The other process, also suspended by Mello, is a request for removal filed by Senator Kátia Abreu (PP-TO).

In this process, the senator affirmed that Deltan Dallagnol was already the target of 16 disciplinary complaints in the board of directors, gave paid lectures and signed an agreement with Petrobras so that R $ 2.5 billion recovered would be destined to a Lava Jato foundation.

Complaint against Lula in Power Point

Recently, the CNMP decided to file a request for action by Lulacontra against three Lava Jato lawyers, including Deltan Dallagnol, who denounced the PT and made a PowerPoint presentation to explain the accusation.

In the request, Lula argued that the prosecutors intended to promote the media trial during the September 2016 press conference. On that occasion, the prosecutors filed a complaint in the case of the triplex in Guarujá (SP).

Former judge Sergio Moro, while working at Lava Jato, convicted Lula in the first instance. The sentence was confirmed by the second instance, which increased the sentence.

The Superior Court of Justice, although upheld the sentence, reduced the sentence. Lula’s lawyers have already sued the Federal Supreme Court (STF).

When the complaint was filed, Deltan Dallagnol showed the press a PowerPoint presentation with Lula’s name in the center and assigned him the role of head of a criminal organization.

Last year, the site The Intercept Brazil released messages attributed to former federal judge Sérgio Moro and Deltan Dallagnol saying the two exchanged information about the operations.

The website says that prosecutors, including Deltan Dallagnol, exchanged messages with Moro about some of the issues investigated.

On one occasion, according to Intercept, then-judge Sérgio Moro directed actions and demanded new operations from prosecutors. In one of the dialogues, Moro asks Dallagnol, according to the website: “Isn’t it a long time without an operation?” The head of the task force agrees: “Yes, it is.”

Also according to Intercept, messages attributed to Deltan Dallagnol, head of the Lava Jato prosecutor’s office, would suggest doubts about the solidity of the complaint against former president Lula in the case of the Guarujá triplex, four days before it was offered to the then judge Moro.
