Collapse reaches five houses in Morro das Pedras, in BH; watch video – General

Three houses collapsed and reached two others this Friday afternoon (23) in Bairro So Jorge III, in the West Region of Belo Horizonte. According to the Fire Department, there are no victims, but there are animals at the scene. The surrounding residents were removed from the site, because there is a risk of a new collapse. Civil Defense, Military Police, Municipal Guard, Cemig and Copasa were called to action. There are already seven fire trucks on site.

According to the BH Civil Defense, the incident has nothing to do with the recent rains. According to firefighters, it is an irregular construction.

One of the neighbors, Ana Lucia Porto de Carvalho, 21, was at home when she heard the crash. “It was very sudden. I was in the room and I heard the neighbors yelling ‘it will fall, it will fall’. The second blow was stronger. Until then I was just listening. When I went to see it, everything was already falling ”, says the operations assistant and ran out to alert the other neighbors.

Aline Cristina Ferreira da Silva, 21, lives in a house across the street that has collapsed. “Usually there is a landslide when it rains a lot, but I lived next door when I was 7 years old and it was already decaying, it had a lot of crack,” said the young woman.
