The Civil Police continues to investigate the mistreatment of patients in a rehabilitation clinic in the city of Prudente de Morais, in the central region of Minas. On Tuesday (20), the institution said that one of the employees, who claims to be a holistic therapist, can answer for ideological falsehood if the crime is confirmed.
The man, whose name was not disclosed, was taken to the police station on Monday (19). According to the police, he had a registered stamp that is not in the body for the regularization of the profession. In addition to him, they took seven other people, most of whom preferred to remain silent. Those who spoke denied the crimes.
About a month ago, the police received a report that the inmates, all men between the ages of 18 and 80, were abused and held in a private prison. Some would be hospitalized obligatorily and others voluntarily.
Police officers went to the indicated address and found 32 patients locked up. In total, the place, which served privately, had 45 patients. The sentence can vary from two to five years in prison.
Also according to the Civil Police, the Ministry of Social Assistance of Prudente de Morais was in charge of patients and contact with relatives.
