RIO – The interim governor of Rio, Cláudio Castro, recently sent, through social networks, a message that is a stab at the policy of friction with the federal government that the distant governor Wilson Witzel had been waging. He reports having received a call from Senator Flavio Bolsonaro who, according to him, “made himself available to renew the state’s fiscal recovery regime.”

The senator became an explicit disaffection of Witzel, after the then governor broke with the Bolsonaro family. He even accused Witzel of influencing the Rio de Janeiro Public Ministry when he was investigating the “crackers” in his office, as a state deputy. Part of the irregularities were found.

With the slogan “All hair Rio”, Cláudio Castro dilutes the warlike atmosphere with the Bolsonaro government, which never forgave Witzel. Acting, the governor faces this Wednesday decisive day: the plenary session of the Superior Court of Justice can review the monochrome decision that dismissed Witzel.

Spending austerity decrees

On Monday, the acting governor held his first meeting with the secretary of state. Cláudio Castro ordered the publication, in an extra edition of the Official Gazette, of three spending austerity decrees that provide for the reduction of structures. The goal is to ensure the balance of the state’s finances, while promoting a safe environment for investors and entrepreneurs.

One of the decrees establishes the State Public Expenditure Programming Committee, which will be chaired by the governor and formed by the Secretaries of the Treasury, Civil Housing and Planning and by the State Attorney General’s Office. The collegiate body will deliberate on the ordering of commitments, new hires, agreements and settlements of ‘Remains to Pay’ and expenses from previous years with amounts equal to or greater than R $ 1.8 million.
