Since March 18, face-to-face classes have been suspended in Pernambuco. After six months of suspension, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the State announced, in the press conference this Monday (21), the resumption of face-to-face classes. In the first stage, only high school seniors will return to face-to-face education on October 6. The orientation is for both public schools and private schools.
In the month of October, the forecast is that all high school classes can return to face-to-face classes. From 6th year on, third year high school students; from the 13th, second-year high school students; and, from the 20th, first year high school students.
According to the Secretary of State for Education, Fred Amâncio, the return to face-to-face classes could only occur at an advanced stage of coexistence with the virus. “We would only advance to the beginning of face-to-face classes in our schools when we could go to step 8 of the coexistence plan in our state,” he explained. The secretary also reported that the discussion on the resumption of face-to-face classes is already a subject of discussion by the commission to combat Covid-19 in the State since May.
The protocol for resuming classes, which the state government announced in July, will be updated and released at the end of this week, according to the secretary.
Scheduling, distance between students, temperature measurement, monitoring of suspected cases and testing those who contact these cases are some of the necessary measures to resume face-to-face classes in all schools in the state.
The decision to return the student will be made by their parents or guardians, being optional. Distance education will continue to be offered to students. The orientation is also so that students, teachers and education workers who are part of risk groups do not return to face-to-face activities.
According to the resumption protocol, each school must carry out its pedagogical planning. “The dates are an authorization for the resumption process, but the institutions will decide their resumption protocols,” explained Fred Amâncio.
Face masks, thermometers, and protective masks have already been delivered to public schools. In addition, all schools in the state network that will resume teaching also received alcohol gel totems.
