The Itaí City Council has made available three sports gyms in the city to hold the wake of the victims of the accident between a bus and a truck that occurred this morning, in Taguaí, in the interior of São Paulo. In total, 41 people died, at least 40 of them from Itaí, and 11 were injured.
Trucks will also be offered to transport the families of the victims who do not have their own resources and a Municipal Decree on Emergency Situation will be issued.
The gyms made available by the mayor’s office to observe the victims of the tragedy are in the Jardim Brasil neighborhood, Vila Florentino and another in Jardim Planalto, all in the Itaí municipality.
Questioned, the city said that the municipality’s decree restricts up to 15 people at funerals that take place in the region due to the new coronavirus pandemic. It is believed that, depending on the number of bodies that are being watched in a certain gym, it will be necessary to use some resource to restrict the access of people to the place.
There is still no information on the dates of the wake of the victims of the accident, because many bodies have not yet been identified by relatives and released.
The Itaí City Council mourns the deaths
The Itaí City Council released a note of condolence on Facebook and decreed the official three-day mourning in the municipality for the death of residents of the region in the accident.
“The Municipality of Itaí, through Mayor Thiago dos Santos Michelin, comes through this note to show its deep sadness over the accident of a bus that transported workers from Itaí to Taguaí and that so far has left 41 dead. The Municipal Administration expresses its deep feeling to all the families who lost their loved ones. Due to all the commotion in the city of Itaí, the mayor decreed an official duel of 3 days and an optional point in the public offices ”.
The Taguaí City Council, where the accident occurred, also decreed an official three-day duel in the city’s public offices for the accident and lamented the deaths on the official Facebook page.
Civil Defense offers support
The State Civil Defense today sent a work team to Taguaí with the aim of working together with the defenses of the municipalities of the accident region to attend to the victims and support the families of those involved in the accident.
Two reception points were organized to attend and assist the families of those involved in the tragedy.
“The IML Avaré (Rua Mato Grosso, 140) will serve as the basis for the recognition of bodies and other guidelines.
