The Citizenship party today requested the resignation of Ernesto Araújo from the post of Minister of Foreign Affairs.

In a note signed by the party’s national president, Roberto Freire, and by federal deputy Marcelo Calero (RJ), Cidadania calls the minister a “lunatic.” The party describes the text published by the minister in his blog about the “comunavirus” as a “paranoid article”. Araújo reviewed a new book by the Slovenian philosopher Slavoj Zizek, a famous leftist intellectual.

In the book, Zizek argues that the pandemic shows “the urgent need for a reorganization of the global economy that is no longer subject to market mechanisms,” a “global organization” that “can limit the sovereignty of nation states when necessary. “

The Citizenship note says: “Instead of spending your time helping with international negotiations for the purchase of medical equipment, buy reliable products [novo] coronavirus or sharing the best practices to contain the disease, Ernesto Araújo goes against the civilized world by dedicating his time to attacks against the World Health Organization ”.

“The minister proves to be, in his most striking form, a completely disabled person, capable of acting against the most sacred national interests without any modesty or ceremony,” the party adds.

Also today, federal deputy Fausto Pinato (PP-SP), president of the Brazil-China parliamentary front, said he will sue the Supreme Court against Ernesto Araújo.
