Former minister Ciro Gomes (PDT) He admitted surprise with the tight victory of José Sarto (PDT) over captain Wagner (Pros) in the second round in Fortaleza. Claiming that the internal party polls showed an advantage of up to twenty points for the pediatrician, Ciro attributed part of the result to the “strong action” of the mutineers of the Military Police on election day.

It takes humility to evaluate what happened in the final stretch, but we have some clues, “he said, in an interview with UOL.
“A complaint that comes to us, and that needs to be investigated, is that this mutiny device of the Ceará Military Police entered the voting zone very hard. A lot of testimonies come from shameful policemen and, you know, this Captain is the guy who led the riot that killed more than 300 people, ”said the former minister.
In addition to the alleged action of the PMs who participated in the mutiny at the beginning of the year, Ciro also attributes the narrow victory to Sarto’s own campaign strategy in the final stretch of the campaign. “In the Globo debate, his strategy, correct, was moderate and balanced, because he knows the size of the pineapple he will have to govern, resisting the most blatant provocations.”

We have the same love for him that we have for those who voted with us, although we believe it is a big mistake, “he says.
Despite the fact that the polls show margins between 14 and 20 points of advantage for Sarto, the results of the polls ended with a much smaller difference, with 51.6% for the pediatrician against 48.4% for the Pros candidate . It was the second most intense turn in the history of Fortaleza. Victorious, Sarto has already recognized the result by promising to “pacify” the city and listen to the base and the opposition.
