It was enough to have a signal on the phone again for Flamengo and Rogério Ceni to continue the conversations, and a decision depends almost exclusively on Fortaleza. In relation to São Paulo, where he is heading to Salvador, the coach gave Cariocas the green light to advance in the negotiation, but made it clear that he will not make any move without the consent of the Ceará club. The contract runs until February 2021 and the termination fine is around one million reais.

Rogério still has in mind the delicate situation of when he left Leão do Pici to command Cruzeiro and was fired months later. Fortaleza welcomed him with open arms, and the former goalkeeper has already informed Flamengo that a forced litigation is out of place.
The red and black soccer vice president, Marcos Braz, is the one who tries to get around the situation. On the other hand, the president of Fortaleza, Marcelo Paz, says that he has not yet been contacted to address the issue.
In a recent interview with “Bem, Amigos”, Rogério Ceni cited the episode of leaving for Cruzeiro and revealed his desire to fulfill the contract with Fortaleza:
Rogério Ceni, on the future: “I don’t always want to fight to stay in Serie A, I want something bigger”
– Today I would fulfill my contract with Fortaleza no matter what. Last year I had an experience and I thought that, I always say that when you change teams in the middle of the season, you can no longer complain when you get fired. Despite having fulfilled the contract, it was done. You will learn over time. I intend to finish the season in Fortaleza, regardless of the proposal and then sit down to talk.
At another time, however, the coach spoke of the importance of taking a step forward in his career and facing teams capable of playing important titles:
– What I don’t want is to get stuck in my career. It’s not about Fortaleza, which is a great club, but I don’t want to always fight to stay in Serie A, I want to fight for something bigger, for a Libertadores, for a Brazilian title. Where there can be an investment that can fight with Flamengo, Palmeiras, São Paulo, where I have this condition, maybe it will be the option to continue in the future, including Fortaleza.
Flamengo and Fortaleza enter the field next Wednesday. The Rio de Janeiro club host São Paulo, in Maracanã, for the quarterfinals of the Brazil Cup, while Leão do Pici visits Bahia, in Salvador, in a late match for Brasileirão.
