CBF unveils the Brasileirão table with Flamengo and Palmeiras in the 1st round

The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) launched this Wednesday (24) the table of games for Serie A of the Brazil Championship 2021, scheduled to begin May 29. The current two-time champion Flamengo debut at home in front of Palms, winner of the last edition of Brazil Cup, in a duel that, on April 11, will be published in the Brazilian Super Cup. The first round also provides for the clash between the last two Serie B champions: Chapecoense (2020) and Red Bull Bragantino (2019), under the command of the Santa Catarina club. It is also worth mentioning the clash between two promoted to the first division in 2021 together with Verdão do Oeste: Cuiabá and Juventude. Dourado, who will play at home, will play the first game in history in the national elite. The Rio Grande do Sul team will re-enter the Serie A field after a 13-year absence.

The first state classic will be in the third round: Palmeiras and Corinthians. The duel between Flamengo and Fluminense, the only representatives of Rio de Janeiro in Serie A 2021, is scheduled for the ninth round. Technical limit

The table was published after the technical advice of the competition, carried out this Wednesday afternoon. At the meeting, the participants approved a limit for the exchange of coaches during the tournament. Under the new rule, if a team dismisses the coach, they can only enter one more professional during the entire championship. In the event of a new resignation, the substitute must have been with the club for at least six months.

In the scenario in which the commander asks to leave, the club does not suffer the limitation of bringing in a new professional (as well as the technician who is expelled). The technician who resigns, however, will not be able to do it again, otherwise, he will not be able to be registered by another team in the same edition.

“It is the end of the coaches’ dance in Brazilian soccer. It will imply a more mature and professional relationship and will allow longer and more consistent jobs, ”argued CBF president Rogério Caboclo, according to a note released by the entity.

CBF also announced the creation of a video arbitration center (VAR), to be installed in a building near the entity’s headquarters, in Barra da Tijuca, west of the city of Rio de Janeiro. According to Caboclo, the idea is to reduce the chances of error in decision-making. The VAR has been the target of many complaints from players, coaches and managers throughout the last edition of the Brazilian Championship.
