CBF received with irritation the court order suspending the match between Palmeiras x Flamengo scheduled for tomorrow, for the Brazilian Championship. Behind the scenes, the organization talks about “trying everything” to annul the judicial decision, granted in a lawsuit filed by Sindeclubes in the Rio de Janeiro Regional Labor Court.
The entity has been monitoring the action since yesterday, when it was filed. The way it can be reversed is an injunction: it is an urgent legal measure that aims to protect a right from immediate threat. The court order of mandamus is usually tried quickly and the case may have more developments today: the document is already being prepared.
THE sports found that the organization even warned Globo not to make changes to tomorrow’s schedule yet. There is confidence in the halls of the confederation that the injunction can still be reversed today and that the game will be played.
While the fight is being fought on the courts, Flamengo, just in case, embarked for São Paulo (if it happens, the game will be at Allianz Parque). The delegation from the Rio de Janeiro club arrives in São Paulo this afternoon.
With 19 players infected with covid-19, Flamengo, throughout the week, tried to postpone the game. First, he made a direct request to the CBF, which was rejected. He then headed to Sports Justice, where he was also unsuccessful. According to the sports legislation, clubs cannot appeal to the Common Justice.
Sindeclubes, the author of the action that suspended the game, has as president José Pinheiro dos Santos, who is a Flamengo official. The organization says it filed a lawsuit over requests from club employees.
