Goalkeeper Cássio reached the 500-game mark for Corinthians on Thursday (28), in the game against Bahia for Brasileirão. To this day, in Brazilian soccer, few have played 500 or more matches for a single club. More specifically 16 among the main teams in the country.
Rogério Ceni, now Flamengo coach, remains the record holder among goalkeepers with 1237 games for São Paulo between 1993 and 2015. Fábio, currently at Cruzeiro, is the second with the most games (922) until the penultimate matchday of Serie B. Cássio, 17th on the list, is the 2nd among the goalkeepers in activity with the most matches, behind Fábio. Víctor, from Atlético-MG, is third with 423.
For Corinthians, Cássio is also the second goalkeeper with the most games, behind Ronaldo Giovanelli, who played 602 games. Averaging 62.5 games per season, Cássio needs just over 1 and a half games as a starter at Corinthians to get past him. At 33, it is possible that Cássio will achieve this mark.
