Brazil has 172,079 confirmed coronavirus deaths as of 1:00 pm on Saturday (28), according to a survey by the consortium of press vehicles based on data from state health departments.

Since the balance of 8 pm on Friday (27), 2 states have updated their data: GO and MG.

See consolidated figures:

  • 172,079 confirmed deaths
  • 6,243,216 confirmed cases

On Friday, at 8 p.m., the balance indicated: 501 deaths from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, reaching a total of 171,998 deaths since the start of the pandemic. As a result, the moving average of deaths in Brazil in the last 7 days was 477. The variation was -2% compared to the average of 14 days ago, which indicates a stable trend in deaths from Covid, when there is no significant increase or decrease. .

In confirmed cases, since the start of the pandemic 6,238,076 Brazilians have had or have the new coronavirus, of which 33,506 were confirmed on the last day. The moving average for the last 7 days was 31,496 new diagnoses per day. This represents a variation of + 13% in relation to the cases registered in two weeks; it also indicates a trend towards stability in diagnoses.

Eight states showed an increase in the moving average of deaths: RS, SC, ES, RJ, AC, AM, CE and SE.

The states of Goiás and Rondônia had no updates on their numbers within 24 hours. The two ministries reported problems with access to the Ministry of Health’s registration system.

It is also worth mentioning that there are states where low death rates can lead to large percentage variations. In Sergipe, for example, the moving average stood at 3 and remained at 3 after two weeks, which translated into an increase of + 22%. In Santa Catarina, which has the highest uptrend among the states (+ 117%), the average ranged from 15 to 33 in two weeks. Moving average data is generally in decimal numbers and rounded to facilitate presentation of the data.

See how states fare:

  • Top (8 states): RS, SC, ES, RJ, AC, AM, CE and SE
  • In stability, that is, the number of deaths did not decrease or increase significantly (7 states): MG, SP, PA, BA, MA, PB and PE
  • Falling (9 states + DF): PR, DF, MS, MT, AP, RR, TO, AL, PI and RN
  • Did not update data (2 states): GO * e RO *

This comparison takes into account the average number of deaths in the last 7 days until the publication of this balance in relation to the average registered two weeks ago (understand the criteria used by G1 to analyze pandemic trends).
