Brazil has 194,152 confirmed coronavirus deaths as of 1 pm on Thursday (31), according to a survey conducted by the consortium of press vehicles based on data from state health departments.

Since the balance at 8 pm on Wednesday, 6 states have updated their data: CE, GO, MG, RN, RS and TO.

See consolidated figures:

  • 194,152 confirmed deaths
  • 7,635,999 confirmed cases

On Wednesday, at 8:00 p.m., the balance indicated: 193,940 deaths, 1,224 in 24 hours. As a result, the moving average of deaths in Brazil in the last 7 days was 668. The variation was -8% compared to the 14-day average, indicating stability trend in deaths from the disease.

This is the highest number of deaths recorded in a single day since August 20. Although a peak is expected after the Christmas holidays due to stagnant data, this peak generally has a greater effect on Tuesday after a weekend, as has in fact already occurred. Therefore, this Wednesday’s data attracted attention by itself.

In confirmed cases, since the start of the pandemic 7,619,970 Brazilians have had or have the new coronavirus, with 55,853 of those confirmed on the last day. The moving average of the last 7 days was 36,185 new diagnoses per day. This represents a variation of -2. 3% in relation to the cases registered in two weeks, which indicates downward trend in diagnoses.

Ten states showed an increase in the moving average of deaths: MS, MT, AC, AM, PA, RO, AL and SE.

  • Total deaths: 193,940
  • 24-hour death record: 1,224
  • Average number of new deaths in the last 7 days: 668 (change in 14 days: -8%)
  • Total confirmed cases: 7,619,970
  • Registry of confirmed cases in 24 hours: 55,853
  • Average number of new cases in the last 7 days: 36,185 per day (change in 14 days: -23%)
  • Top (8 states): MS, MT, AC, AM, PA, RO, AL and SE
  • In stability, that is, the number of deaths did not decrease or increase significantly (12 states): RS, SC, ES, MG, SP, AP, BA, MA, PB, PE, PI and RN
  • Falling (6 states and the DF): PR, RJ, DF, GO, RR, TO, CE

This comparison takes into account the average number of deaths in the last 7 days until the publication of this balance in relation to the average registered two weeks ago (understand the criteria used by the G1 to analyze pandemic trends).

It is worth mentioning that there are states in which the low average number of deaths can lead to large percentage variations. Moving average data is generally in decimal numbers and rounded to facilitate presentation of the data.
