Carazinho bus accident leaves seven dead and 21 injured in SP

An accident involving a tourist bus bound for Carazinho, in Rio Grande do Sul, left seven dead and 21 injured on Monday night. The clash between the group, originally from São Félix do Xingu, in Pará, and a bitrem truck occurred in Parapuã, a municipality in the northwest of the state of São Paulo. According to information from the Presidente Prudente Fire Department, the vehicle had 41 occupants. In the impact, the two drivers were killed and five children were unharmed.

According to information from the Federal Highway Police (PRF), the accident occurred on the Assis Chateaubriand highway (SP-425). The causes of the accident have not yet been investigated and the injured were sent to Santa Casa de Osvaldo Cruz and Santa Casa de Parapuã: nine are in serious condition and 12 with minor abrasions.


The vehicle is owned by Carazinho-based cargo company Helios. The rescue was completed around 2 am this Tuesday and involved 10 vehicles from the São Paulo Highway Police and teams from the Adamantina and Osvaldo Cruz firefighters.
