Corinthians played a game worthy of victory against Internacional, after losing to América-MG last Wednesday. Fired by Mancini in the team’s last meeting, midfielder Camacho spoke about the coach’s requests and commented on the team’s physical improvement.
Mancini has spoken publicly of “going back to Corinthians’ origins” since taking over the team. Looking for an aggressive game and a competitive team, the coach has been achieving relatively good results with the team. With that in mind, Camacho evaluated the technician’s work.
“Since he arrived, he has been talking about going back to his roots, playing as Corinthians. He asks for a lot of intensity, to steal the ball and be aggressive, to play forward, as was our goal against Inter. Our team is improving little by little. It’s difficult, you don’t have much time to train. But he had this busy week with us, to get through. But there are four games in the Brazilian with him and three wins. Over time we can play even better and win more calmly“, analyzed and projected, in Podcast do GloboEsporte.com.
Before the win against Internacional, however, Corinthians played a low game against América-MG and lost bitterly 1-0 at home, leaving behind a fight for a place in the quarterfinals of the Copa do Brasil. Camacho said that after the game the group spoke of the poor performance and demanded changes.
“We lost Wednesday and talked to each other that things would have to change, that we would have to answer for ourselves. Everyone put it in their heads and we had a great game (against Inter). A game changer and I hope that from now on we will not oscillate as it has been, win one, lose another … I hope that now we play at that level (which was against International) for the better“said the Corinthians.
A large part of Corinthians’ difficulties on the pitch are due to the decline in the team’s physical performance, which drops significantly in production in the second half of matches. For this reason, the Alvinegro coach counted on working on specific “stimuli” with the athletes to improve the team’s performance. Thus, Camacho evaluated the work carried out by the commander of Timão.
“The physical part is for everyone, for us and for others. In the second half the way of playing falls a bit. Last year it was a championship better played than this one, but there is no way. We have to give our best and the cast is very important at that moment, to be able to rotate whenever possible. Regarding the stimuli, each coach that changes is in a different way. We steal the ball and we have to come out strong on the counterattack, we have to make a good leg … we have been improving, against Inter I think it was the game we played the most, and we did not get tired. Davo did, but it was to be expected, due to the lack of sequence he had. The team is putting up with doing more and what Mancini asks for from the beginning, and that shows that we are evolving, training well … he is trying to endure this marathon until the end“, concluded the athlete.
