The president of Caixa Econômica Federal (CEF), Pedro Guimarães, said on Tuesday (29) that the institution will launch what it called the “microfinance program”. The proposal, according to him, is to offer financing ranging from R $ 500 to R $ 2,000 to more than 10 million Brazilians, with interest rates between 1.5% and 2.5% per month.
“They are much lower interest rates and will allow more than 10 million Brazilians to have access to credit safely and quickly, without having to go to the agency. This strengthens the banking system and strengthens the access of this poorest population to the financial sector, ”he explained during an interview with the program. According to Guimarães, some initiatives already underway, such as the Casa Verde and Amarela Programs, will also be launched via cell phone through the Caixa Tem application.
“All contracts for this program will be, starting next year, via application,” he said. Today, according to estimates by the institution, 4.5 million Brazilians have some type of housing contract. “We are going to migrate these and the application will make new contracts,” he concluded.
