OR federal government regulated the digital social savings account, used by the Federal Economic Fund. The law was published in the Official Gazette of Union.
The account is used to pay social benefits, such as emergency help. Now, digital savings has been transformed into law, as provided in the text of Provisional Measure No. 982 of 2020. The account releases emergency aid and other social and social security benefits without paying any fee.
Digital savings accounts have a limit of until R $ 5,000 per month. The account holder will be able to make three electronic transfers per month free of charge and make payments from bank receipts.
Beneficiaries who have records to receive emergency assistance, salary assignment, withdrawal from the FGTS (Guarantee Fund for Time of Service) or the emergency employment maintenance program of Law No. 41.020, the account can be opened automatically.
Only for social security benefits will it be necessary for the holder to request the opening of the account.
Account opening
The responsibility for the operation of the savings accounts rests with Caixa Econômica Federal. The bank will make available on its website and in its application a consultation tool for citizens, who will be able to check if there are accounts open in their name, after consulting the CPF (Cadastro de Pessoa Jurídica). The account can be closed or converted to a regular account at any time, at no additional cost.
The sanction was published by President Jair Bolsonaro without any veto. Now, with the conversion into law, digital social savings will be permanent and can be expanded to pay other social benefits.
