Caixa Econômica Federal has already deposited the profit of the Severance Fund (FGTS) for millions of Brazilians. According to the bank, around 167 million active and inactive accounts will receive the proceeds. The amount released was R $ 7.5 billion, equivalent to 66.23% of the Fund’s profit.
The amount that the beneficiary will receive varies depending on the amount that the worker had in the account until December 31, 2019. However, Caixa affirms that the middle value per account is R $ 45. The interested party can consult the balance regarding the distribution of the results of the FGTS in 2019 on the Caixa website or in the FGTS application.
FGTS benefit
By law, FGTS has a 3% annual return. However, with profit sharing, the fund performance it will be 4.9%, higher than inflation, the dollar and also savings. In other words, the insured will have deposited R $ 1.90 in his account for every R $ 100 he had in the fund as of December 31, 2019.
It is worth mentioning that the income refers to 2019, although it will be paid in 2020. In this way, the deposits will be made considering the amount in the accounts at the end of 2019. Whoever took out the FGTS this year will continue to receive the profit, but who made the Withdrawal earlier will be entitled to the amount proportional to the amount you had in your account on the last day of last year.
Who receives the FGTS benefit?
Any Brazilian worker with a balance in the FGTS accounts as of December 31, 2019 will receive part of the profit. The amount will be automatically deposited into the beneficiary’s account, without the need to make any kind of request.
However, the prerequisites for withdrawing the money do not change with the distribution of the FGTS results. Therefore, withdrawal is only allowed in the following situations: dismissal without cause; termination of the contract for a specific period; purchase of own home; and retirement.
