“The clinical study with more than 13 thousand participants was concluded and the data was subjected to analysis that implies the final decision and presentation of the data by the international committee. This will take place on the 23rd, the date remains ”, said Dimas Covas, director of Butantan, this Monday.

According to the government, phase 3 of the CoronaVac tests in Brazil records at least 170 contaminated volunteers. The conclusive study will measure the effectiveness rate of the immunizer by comparing how many confirmed chaos occurred in the volunteers who received the placebo and how many in those who received the vaccine. The minimum effectiveness rate recommended by Anvisa is 50%.

Last Wednesday (16), the federal government included CoronaVac in the national vaccination plan. However, the São Paulo government says it is waiting for the Ministry of Health to formalize the intention to buy the doses.

São Paulo Governor João Doria (PSDB) announced on Monday (21) the purchase of more than 100 million syringes and needles for the application of the CoronaVac vaccine. Doria also maintained the forecast to begin vaccination against the coronavirus in the state on January 25.

“We are expanding the stock to be sure, convinced, that there will be no lack of supplies for the medical system of the state of São Paulo to serve the population undergoing vaccination, which begins, I repeat, on January 25 here in the state of São Paulo” said the governor at an early afternoon news conference.

Last week, when the commercial sessions began, the government said that 50 million would go to vaccination against Covi-19 and the other 50 million to other vaccines on the regular schedule. OR G1 he questioned the State Health Secretariat and awaits his return.

According to the State Health Department, in the first commercial sessions, opened last Friday (18), 2 million of the supplies were bought. The state government already has 11 million syringes and needles reserved for the start of vaccination against Covid-19 in São Paulo.

“The raw material for 5.5 million doses will arrive on another flight from Sinovac, in Beijing, which represents the largest batch of vaccines ever landed in Brazil and also on the Latin American continent,” said Doria.

Currently, the São Paulo government already has 3.1 million doses stored in the Butantan Institute.

Still according to the São Paulo government, another two shipments are expected to arrive at the end of December, with 400,000 doses on the 28th and 1.6 million on the 30th.

“With this, São Paulo will have, this year, 10.8 million doses of the Butantan vaccine, the vaccine against Covid-19, on Brazilian soil,” said Doria.
