The government of São Paulo said on Wednesday (27) that it will export additional doses of Coronavac if the government of Jair Bolsonaro (without a party) does not express interest in the purchase.
The statement was made during a collective interview at the Palácio dos Bandeirantes, in the west of São Paulo.
According to the government, Butantan has a contract to supply 46 million doses to the federal government, with the possibility of adding 54 million extra doses.
According to the institute, the contract with the federal government will be fulfilled, perhaps even in advance. However, there is no definition of interest in relation to the other doses.
“Butantan is committed to other countries and, if Brazil falls below those 54 million, we will prioritize the rest of the countries with which we have an agreement,” said Dimas Covas, from the Butantan Institute.
“Our contract with the Ministry of Health is for 46 million doses, we have no additional contract.
But we haven’t had a nod to that yet. It is time to decide and if we delay we will not be able to increase this figure, “he added.
Butantan sent a letter to the federal government last week and is waiting until the end of the week for a response. Next week contracts will be signed with other countries, starting with Argentina. “The offer is made by contract, by letter and from the public,” he said.
Doria said that it is incredible that in the face of a pandemic “we have the distance between what the Ministry of Health should act, asking for more vaccines to be offered, and this response is not given.” “It will not be with 2 million vaccines from AstraZeneca that we will immunize Brazilians. We need more vaccines,” he said.

During the event, Doria announced that it will open public schools to offer meals to students beginning February 1; however, the return to school should only be on the 8th.

The space will have cafes, bike paths and walkways. According to the government, the leisure area will be on the western bank of the Pinheiros canal, between the Pomar Urbano headquarters and the Cidade Jardim bridge. The section will be connected to other public parks in the region.
