In the last 24 hours, 730 new deaths from covid-19 were registered, totaling 149,034 deaths from the disease throughout the country. The information is from the press consortium of which Twitter It is part of.

The survey conducted in the state health departments indicates 27,182 new cases reported since yesterday. In total, the country has 5,029,539 diagnoses of the new coronavirus.

The moving average of deaths, calculated based on the number of deaths in the last seven days, is 610, which represents stability in relation to the variation of 14 days ago.

Twelve states and the Federal District showed a drop in the 14-day variation in the moving average of deaths and only one rose: Amapá (33%).

However, the state has registered low figures, which vary between 1 and 3 in the last 7 days, while in the same period two weeks ago the figures fluctuated between 0 and 2. The smallest increase in the daily registration of deaths causes an increase in the moving average.

Three regions had a drop in the moving average of deaths: Midwest (-7%), Northeast (-21%) and North (-21%). Southeast (-8%) and South (-16%) remained stable.

Health data

Previously, the Ministry of Health reported 729 new deaths, within 24 hours, from covid-19. As a result, the number of deaths from the new coronavirus reaches 148,957.

Since yesterday, 27,750 new cases of the disease were confirmed, totaling 5,028,444 diagnoses throughout the country.

The government considers 4,414,564 recovered cases and affirms that there are 464,923 patients under follow-up.

More than 5 million cases

Yesterday, Brazil became the third country in the world to exceed the milestone of 5 million diagnoses, after the United States and India.

Last week, the MPF (Federal Public Ministry) called the courts asking that the official channels of the Brazilian government and the profile of President Jair Bolsonaro (not party) on Twitter be obliged to transmit “guidance and information” informed about the pandemic. The agency had already submitted a request in April about Bolsonaro’s speeches against social isolation.

The pandemic worsened the mental health of half the population

A survey by the ICRC (International Committee of the Red Cross) indicates that the covid-19 pandemic has had a negative impact on the mental health of half the world’s population. Of the total number of people consulted by the organization’s survey, 51% said they were seriously affected by the new scenario.

The ICRC believes that the pandemic “has exacerbated existing mental illnesses, generated new illnesses and further limited access to mental health services.”

The study was conducted in seven countries: South Africa, Colombia, the Philippines, Lebanon, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, and Ukraine.

Vehicles gather for information

In response to the decision of the government of Jair Bolsonaro to restrict access to data on the covid-19 pandemic, media Twitter, El Estado de S. Paulo, Folha de S.Paulo, O Globo, G1 and Extra formed a consortium to work collaboratively to seek the necessary information directly from the state health departments of the 27 units of the Federation.

The federal government, through the Ministry of Health, should be the natural source of these figures, but recent attitudes from the authorities and the president himself question the availability of the data and its veracity.
