Brazil had at least 156,471 deaths from covid-19 until 5:30 pm this Friday (23.out.2020). There are 571 more victims than the day before. The data are from the Ministry of Health.
The country represents 5,353,656 cases of covid-19, according to the ministry. Increase of 30,026 cases, in 24 hours.
Approximately 4.8 million people have recovered from the disease to date. Another 399,000 are being followed up.
Brazil is the second country with the highest number of deaths from covid-19. Only the United States has more victims: 229,148.
The number of deaths in Brazil is also high in the proportional comparison. There are 739 deaths per million inhabitants, the second crossing of data from the Ministry of Health with the latest population estimate published by IBGE (Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics).
The rate places Brazil in the 4th position in the world ranking. Peru is the country where the covid-19 kills the most in relation to the number of inhabitants. There are 1,080 deaths per million people. Federal District, Rio de Janeiro, Roraima have higher rates.
AVERAGE CASES AND DEATHS
The next 2 graphs show the number of deaths and new cases daily, but also the moving average of the last 7 days. The curve qualifies possible abrupt variations, mainly because on weekends there are always fewer reported cases.
The new death curve was 465, the lowest rate since May 7.
The case curve changed negatively by 13% in the last two weeks, a situation of stability, according to experts.

The Southeast was the region with the most deaths registered this Friday (23.out): 299.
The southeast and northeast have more than 1 million confirmed cases each.
