The first batch of supplies and medical equipment to combat covid-19 arrived this Sunday (May 10, 2020) at Guarulhos International Airport. The material was purchased by the Brazilian government of China, with a flight financed by the American retail chain.
The operation is carried out by Latam, divided into two parts. The company will transport 15 million protective masks for health professionals who are at the forefront of the fight against the disease.

The Ministry of Infrastructure plans to receive 1,200 tons of masks purchased by the Chinese Ministry of Health, with a donation of R $ 5.7 million from Lojas Americanas, responsible for covering transportation costs.
Latam is preparing the second flight with the final part of the shipment. There are 18,000 kilometers covered in 46 hours.
The landing forecast is for the morning of this Monday (May 11, 2020), at the Guarulhos airport. Each flight carries a total of 7.5 million masks.
In Guarulhos, the PT-MUJ plane was received with a special welcome message from the airport control tower.
“Good day. We warmly welcome the Latam team that will remain in the history of the company representing the effort of the brilliant people who worked for Latam to go to China in search of medical supplies to combat the coronavirus in Brazil. Thank you for your support and welcome.“
The authorities stressed the importance of this international flight in support of the fight against the pandemic.
