The country today exceeded 121 thousand deaths from covid-19, with 553 new deaths recorded in the last 24 hours. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 121,381 deaths have been registered, according to data published today by the Ministry of Health.
Between yesterday and today, 45,961 new cases of coronavirus have been confirmed. In total, 3,908,272 people have already been diagnosed with the disease in Brazil.
Ministry of Health appoints veterinarian to immunization department
General Eduardo Pazuello, Acting Minister of Health, today appointed veterinarian Laurício Monteiro Cruz to the position of director of the Department of Immunizations and Communicable Diseases of the portfolio.
The agency is responsible for coordinating the National Immunization Program and must play an important role in the distribution of the covid-19 vaccine.
Cruz will replace career server Marcelo Yoshito Wada, also a veterinarian. Wada is the coordinator of Surveillance of Zoonoses and Vector Diseases in the same department and has experience in the field of public health, with an emphasis on epidemiology. The new director will have a remuneration of R $ 13,623.29, according to the function code.
