BRASILIA – This Saturday, Brazil passed the mark of 10,000 people killed by the new coronavirus. The Ministry of Health bulletin published after 7 pm indicates that the country registered 730 deaths in the last 24 hours, reaching 10,627 deaths confirmed by the Covid-19. In total, there are 155,939 confirmed cases of the disease among Brazilians.

With an increasing number, Brazil is only behind the United States in number of daily deaths and became the sixth with more deaths due to the disease in the world. The mortality rate, calculated by the ratio between the number of infected and deaths, is 6.8%.

In the past seven days, the country recorded 3,903 Covid-19 deaths, compared to 2,708 in the previous seven days, an increase of 44%. According to the ministry, of the new deaths announced this Saturday, 234 are from the last three days. There are another 1,880 under investigation. The total number of people recovered is 61,685.
São Paulo, which continues to be the state most affected by the disease, has 3,608 deaths from Covid-19 and 44,411 confirmed cases. In second place is Rio de Janeiro, with 1,653 deaths and 16,929 records of infections, and the capital has a higher lethality.

In sequence, Ceará appears (with 1,062 deaths and 15,879 cases); Pernambuco (with 12,470 victims and 972 people diagnosed); Amazonas (with 962 deaths and 11,925 confirmations) and Pará (with 578 deaths and 6,775 infection records).
