So far, there are only 10.8 million doses of the vaccine in the national territory, but the country has around 14.8 million people in the priority group, and immunization is only achieved after the application of two doses of the vaccine. . That is, 29.6 million doses are needed in the first phase.

This number of 10.8 million vaccines available in Brazil corresponds to the 6 million doses distributed among the states plus the 4.8 million produced that are pending approval for emergency use by Anvisa (National Health Surveillance Agency) . According to the report, this amount is capable of immunizing only 5.4 million Brazilians, which is equivalent to around 2.5% of the country’s population.

On Wednesday (20), the Butantan Institute said that it stopped the production of new doses of CoronaVac since last Sunday (17), due to lack of supplies from China.

Butantan President Dimas Covas said 5,400 liters are expected to arrive by the end of the month and another 5,600 liters by February 10. “This raw material is ready and pending bureaucratic processing,” he said.
