The Bolsonaro government is studying ways to launch Renda Brasil, a new program that will replace Renda Brasil, and other benefits. However, there is still no consensus on the creation of the program.
Last Tuesday (08), President Jair Bolsonaro even said that Renda Brasil would be too expensive to leave the newspaper. Onyx Lorenzoni, Minister of Citizenship, said today that Renda Brasil “is ready” and that it will be launched as soon as the payment of emergency aid is completed in December.
“The program is ready, there are different things. What corresponds to the Ministry of Citizenship is to implement a minimum income program that can build the pillars of merit and qualification, and make families prosper. From then on, what we take as the government’s decision is to complete the emergency aid. So, we have a lot of confidence in the quality of Renda Brasil, in the positive impacts that it will have on people’s lives and in the emancipation condition that it will generate in people’s lives, “said Onyx.
At the end of the first semester, Renda Brasil gained strength behind the backstage of the government. This happened after the Planalto Palace perceived that Bolsonaro’s popularity was growing with income transfer programs as emergency aid. Initially, the government considered making the new program replace Bolsa Família, wage subsidy, closed insurance and Popular Pharmacy. The suggestion of Paulo Guedes, Minister of Economy, was for an average payment of R $ 247.
With the negative repercussions of the substitution of various benefits, Bolsonaro called for the Renda Brasil model to be reworked. The president said publicly that he was against the new program to replace other benefits, such as the salary bonus.

For the minister, the amount depends on the termination of other programs. But President Bolsonaro is pressing for the value to be at least R $ 300.
According to Folha de S. Paulo, the minister anticipates that up to 27 programs and social benefits will be reformulated or terminated so that Renda Brasil is created. Even so, even in the best scenario, the benefit would not reach an income of R $ 300. Currently, the average amount of Bolsa Família is R $ 190.
The government’s economic team also estimates that Renda Brasil is more comprehensive. Currently, Bolsa Família serves approximately 14 million people. The expectation is that Renda Brasil will reach between 6 and 8 million more people.
