Brazil breaks record with 2,286 deaths from Covid-19 in 24 hours

The Conass (National Council of Health Secretaries) confirmed on Wednesday (10) another 2,286 deaths from Covid-19, the largest daily increase in the entire pandemic.

The record was this Tuesday (9), when 1,972 deaths entered the count.

With the update, Brazil exceeded 270 thousand victims of the disease. In total, 270,656 Brazilians died as a result of the new coronavirus infection.

The country has the second highest number of deaths from the virus in the world, behind only the United States.

Conass also recorded 79,876 more cases, for a total of 11,202,305.

The occupancy of ICU beds exceeds 90% in 12 states and the Federal District, as shown by a survey carried out by CNN with state health departments In Rondônia, there are no adult beds available in the public network.

Butantan previously announced that the institute’s vaccine in partnership with China’s Sinovac is effective against variants of the new coronavirus circulating in Brazil.

Preliminary studies carried out by the institute in alliance with USP, in vaccinated people, show that Coronavac is capable of neutralizing variants of the new coronavirus.
