The singer Agnaldo Timóteo, who died this Saturday, at the age of 84, due to complications from Covid-19, was remembered by Botafogo. The artist was a fan of alvinegro.

“With great pain, Botafogo mourns the passing of Agnaldo Timóteo, a Brazilian singer and songwriter, passionate about Botafogo. The Club wishes friends and family consolation at this difficult time,” the club wrote.

The artist was not just any fan of Alvinegro. For decades, he has been involved with the club as a member and also active in Botafogo politics. Two moments illustrate the extent of Agnaldo Timóteo’s passion for Glorious. The one who paid for the funeral of the idol Garrincha, in January 1983.

Another iconic moment happened the following year. During the match valid for the Brazil Cup, between Botafogo and Operário-MT, in Rio, the singer and then state deputy invaded the field after forward Cláudio Adão missed a penalty.

Unhappy, Agnaldo approached the player and warned him of the mistake. The game came to a standstill as the illustrious fan scolded Adam. The defeat eliminated the team from the competition.

In an interview with the Globo TV program “Conversa com o Bial”, Agnaldo joked:

“The referee couldn’t stop me, because I was a deputy,” he said.
