Due to the Covid-19 protocol, the new assistant will not debut in the classic against Fluminense, this Sunday, at 11 am, for the 13th day of the Brasileirão. He will be in Nilton Santos, but he will not be able to have contact with the athletes. The assistant on the bench for that match will be goalkeeping coach Flavio Tenius.
Fábio began his career as a physical trainer in clubs with less investment in soccer in Rio de Janeiro and, later, in the Middle East. From there, he moved on to the assistant position in South Korea and China. The last club was Shandong Luneng-CHN, where the carioca stayed for two years. Earlier, in Korea, he had his first coaching experience: He spent six months as Jeonbuk Hyundai’s interim coach in 2013.
Fábio and Lazaroni are familiar with previous experiences in soccer in Rio de Janeiro. The now assistant was already a physical trainer for the Alvinegro coach on two occasions: in 2000 and 2006. The two studied together at CBF to obtain the PRO license.
