Government reports to the Supreme Court (STF) indicate that President Jair Bolsonaro had a negative test result for the new coronavirus. The exams were open to the public on Wednesday (13).
The documents were only published after the newspaper “O Estado de S. Paulo” went to court to request access.
The president had previously announced the negative results on social media, but declined to show the reports.
According to the letters annexed by the AGU in the Supreme Court, the names of third parties were used in the reports to preserve the image and privacy of the President of the Republic and for security reasons. The CPF and date of birth on the documents are, in fact, Bolsonaro’s.
“To carry out the examinations, the fictitious names Airton Guedes and Rafael Augusto Alves da Costa Ferraz were used to register with the accredited Sabin laboratory, and all personal data from the civil registry were kept with official agencies,” states the letter from the Logistics Commander of the Armed Forces Hospital, Rui Yutaka Matsuda.
Lewandowski orders results of Bolsonaro tests for coronavirus
The process reached the Supreme Federal Court and, on Tuesday night (13), the Office of the Attorney General (AGU) provided the reports to the reporting minister, Ricardo Lewandowski. The documents were kept in a sealed envelope and, in the early afternoon, Lewandowski ordered their inclusion in the records, without secrecy.
“I determine the addition to electronic records of all reports and documents delivered by the Union to my office, which will receive wide publicity,” the minister said in the decision.
The action presented by “Estadão” was marked by comings and goings. The newspaper even received favorable decisions, with the determination that the exam was delivered in 48 hours, but the government managed to reverse the order in the Federal Regional Court of the Third Region (TRF-3).
The newspaper appealed to the Supreme Court. On Tuesday, the AGU decided to release the reports even before a decision by Minister Lewandowski.
Bolsonaro says on the social network that the test was negative for coronavirus
Days later, Bolsonaro repeated the test as part of the security protocol, to avoid a false negative caused by the so-called “immunological window”. The president again announced a negative result, without presenting any evidence.
The third review was not published by the president on a social network, but is on the list of documents submitted by the AGU.
Jair Bolsonaro’s results in the coronavirus test raised concern that, since the start of the pandemic, the President of the Republic has repeatedly violated protocols for social isolation and isolation recommended by health authorities.
Days after returning from the United States, and with the information that part of the party was contaminated, Bolsonaro broke the isolation recommended by the doctors of the Presidency of the Republic and participated in a protest in the Esplanada dos Ministérios.
In the act, the president greeted, hugged and took photos with his followers. At that time, there was already a recommendation for everyone to avoid crowds. People who had contact with patients with Covid-19 were also advised to maintain preventive isolation.
